SUNIA  Camp

Value: $645

SUNIA is a summer camp like no other. For 70 years, young people from across Alberta and around the world have been coming to SUNIA to explore the issues facing our world and how to make a difference. At SUNIA, you’ll join a community of like-minded youth as you build empathy, develop critical thinking skills, participate in a model Security Council, and explore nuanced perspectives on the world’s most challenging problems. Then hike, swim, and canoe in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. All in one week in August of each year. Students are nominated by their Social Studies teachers for this one!

Michael A. Strembitsky Award of Excellence

Bronze - $1,500; Silver - $2,000; Gold - $2,500

Each year, the Michael A. Strembitsky Award of Excellence is given to the top three Grade 12 students in the Division who model inclusivity, leadership and compassion and have demonstrated excellence in their overall performance.

Jasper Place Music Society

Four $1000 scholarships

Presented to JPHS Music Program students undertaking post-secondary studies at an accredited institution leading to a diploma or degree in music, music education or music therapy

John Cameron Changing Lives Award

$1500

This $1500 Scholarship recognizes a student that has demonstrated a passion for making a difference, both in the school community and the community at large by getting involved in mental health initiatives and advocating for mental health

Mayfield Rotary Service Above Self

$1000 Scholarship

The mission of the Mayfield Rotary Club is to strengthen the local and international community with a focus on youth development. 

The “Service Above Self” Scholarship recognizes a student’s commitment to 

community service through volunteering and helping others

Sunrise Rotary Career Development Scholarship

Four $500 awards for RAP/Work Experience Students

This Scholarship is awarded to students who are enrolled in the Jasper Place High School 

Off-Campus Career Development Program in Work Experience or RAP and are planning to attend a post-secondary program

Smart Photography Positive Contribution Award

$1000 award

This award recognizes a student who, through their actions, make the world a more 

compassionate place and the lives of others more dignified and meaningful

Premier’s Citizenship Award Nominee

1 Letter of Commendation

The nominee must have displayed outstanding characteristics in citizenship, leadership, and community service 

and/or engagement in volunteer work, and must also have shown initiative and had a positive impact in the community/school

City of Champions Lions' Club Scholarships

$1000

This award is for a well-rounded active member of school community who plans to attend post-secondary. It recognizes school service, academic achievement, community involvement, and leadership activities

BeamCraft Construction Award for Excellence in Carpentry

$1000

Students showing excellence as well as mentorship to others in Construction or Welding can qualify, and teachers nominate their Advanced-level students for this award
