Some scholarships are based on academic achievement and some are based on volunteer experience in your school or community.
Get organized. Set up a binder or folder to keep track of the scholarships you apply for. Keep copies of your applications and reference letters.
When completing applications, print clearly or type them on computer.
Complete EVERY section of the application and follow the instructions carefully.
Proofread before submitting.
Start planning early. Watch for deadlines. Don't get frustrated if you're not immediately successful - there are thousands of scholarships available. Persevere.
Although there are fewer scholarships available for Grade 11 students, they still exist and there is a lot that students in Grade 11 can be doing to make themselves great candidates in Grade 12.
