Please note: you need a Teacher account in Khan Academy, set up a classroom, and have at least one student linked to your classroom in order to supplement CORE instruction.
You can assign topics/activities to an entire class or to each student based on the curricula, standards, or knowledge gaps detected.
1. Login to your “Teacher Account” at KA.
https://www.khanacademy.org
2. Select the class that you wish to work with (the students you wish to create assignments for need to be enrolled in a specific class).
If you have not created a class, you can do so on your main dashboard by clicking “Add new class”.
3. Explore the content suggested by KA.
Content is based on the course-level and/or subject(s) you defined for the class, or click on the subject dropdown button (it has the grade level or course name and a blue arrow pointing down) to change it/add a new one. The topics will be displayed automatically for the grade level or course selected.
4. Select the topic you wish to assign.
You can expand each major topic to see a detailed list of activities, quizzes, etc..., should you need select individual items as opposed to entire topic sections.
5. Click on the blue button labeled “Assign"
Please note: KA is based on Common Core State Standards CCSS; if you need to use Oklahoma State Standards, you may wish to use the Oklahoma Math Standards Mapped to CCSS document for equivalency standards, since KA uses CCSS exclusively.
6. You may check on your students’ progress:
- Select a class, and click on the “Assignments”, “Progress”, “Activity”, and/or “Roster” that appear on the menu below the class name. If you select “Roster”, you will have to select the name of the student to see their individual progress report. We recommend exploring each option to familiarize yourself with how each presents student and activity data.
