How will you learn?
The academic year is divided into four terms, each being about 10 weeks long (including breaks if any).
Before the start of each term, we bring all students together for vibrant event series called Discovery Week. With 20+ enrichment activities available across 6 days, you can develop your skills, dedicate time for your project, attend Meet the Expert sessions and connect with the wider community of Engame.
As the term officially starts, you'll focus on your two core program elements: attending your Themed Workshop and your termly Mentoring sessions. During term time, we'll also offer Field Trips and various student-led and community events (see under Student life) to delve deeper into various interests and build relationships with students from other years.
Discovery Week sessions and term-time events are sign-up based and will be announced on Classroom. We encourage you to participate in as many of them as you can, experience new things, try yourself in different situations, and make valuable connections!

Core program in Sophomore Year
🎯 Theme Workshops in Term 1, 2 and 3
Theme Workshops will focus on overarching themes like cities, food, infinity, or money. We'll explore real-life topics and their interconnectedness, moving beyond rigid subject-based thinking to understand the world's complexity. This approach will develop your critical thinking, problem-solving, and media literacy skills. It will also help you identify your interests and connect them to academic or professional areas, guiding your study and career choices.
Term 4: You in University
The module helps to identify the connections between school subjects and their practical, real-life applications. Through exciting and modern topics, we explore how the defining trends and problems of our present can be approached from the perspective of multiple subjects. By the end we will not only be more aware where secondary school subjects can lead but we will see what can influence our decisions when choosing a specialisation.

🚀 Project (part of Discovery Week)
In Sophomore year you will have the opportunity to complete a project - a full cycle of planning and implementing one. Read our dedicated Project Page for a full description of what an Engame project is and what support you can receive through the process. Once you decide to embark on an Engame project, be sure to register for a Project Kick-off session during Discovery Week in term 1 or 3, to help you get started.
Your project is a great opportunity to experiment with a question or topic you're interested in, develop useful skills, and it can - as it often does for Engamers - feature in your uni application further down the line!
