Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
A design has been finalized and modeled. Items have been purchased, and manufacturing will begin this week.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Design selected.
CAD Improved to incorporate motors, be suitable for manufacture, and remove interferences.
Bill of Materials completed.
Parts of the design report completed.
All purchases were made and all components have been received.
Toolpaths were initially begun, but modifications to the design made these manufacturing processes obsolete.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finalize Dimensions: Paul, Allyson, Wei, Jack
Complete toolpaths for design: Paul, Jack
Begin manufacturing of finalized design: Paul, Allyson, Wei, Jack
Figure out how to use the motor with the ESC: Allyson

In-Person, 4/21:
Use steel for the guiding slot
Approved using aluminum on all components except the guiding slot
Preferable for the mechanism to be portable (not permanently attached to a table)
Amplitude change is desired but not a priority
It is fine if the mechanism needs to be taken apart in order to change amplitude

In-Person, 4/17:
Make progress reports more succinct.
Use two bearings on each follower to reduce jamming possibility; we have integrated multiple bearings into our design.
Stainless tubing might be an interesting alternative for mounting linear bearings; we also discussed Teflon bearings which we have decided to try.
Use locknuts and/or thread locker but make sure the nuts can be accessed by tools for removal; our design reduces the number of bolts necessary.

4/10 Presentation Comments Summary:
Good visuals/animations/organization.
I would recommend an ODrive v3.6 for a brushless ESC. You can get a knockoff one on aliexpress for ~$100 and they have built in closed loop feedback to achieve a target rotational velocity. You would need to buy an encoder too like this: https://odriverobotics.com/shop/cui-amt-102
Improve the description of the project and purpose, the background was done too fast.
Give presentation a theme.
Risks and Areas of Concern
The main risk and concern that prevent you from accomplishing your goal. Try not to put minor concerns in here.
Safety when testing the design is a concern, with very high speeds and accelerations present.
High friction in the slot-slider system could cause issues.
Vibration of the mechanism could cause fatigue and noise.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
List them here and the instructor will try to help you.
None.
