Week 6 Accomplishments:
An initial, rough simulation in ANSYS was prepared. Sheet metal was ordered through IMS and delivered to the machine shop to begin manufacturing. Order forms for clamps and all other components have been sent to purchasing for approval. Proof of concept presentation was prepared and delivered to the section.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Due by sponsor meeting on Wednesdays.
Continue developing an ANSYS FEA model.
Upon delivery of parts/components and the test rig platform, begin setup for testing.

In Person (via Microsoft Teams):
Our meeting this week with our sponsor consited primarily as an update to inform them on the progress of manufacturing and building. Brief meeting with not much feedback.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
In person (via zoom):
Good progress overall.
Try to contact ITS to obtain an improved license for ANSYS for further improvement on the FEA model.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Why we didn't decide to manufacture our test rig platform outside of the machine shop?
Ans: Given our tight budget, utilization of an off campus machine shop would limit other aspects of testing various style clamps.
Risks and Areas of Concern
ANSYS student version has it's limitations on what simulations can be modeled.
Given the design of the sheet metal from our test rig platform, we will not be able to accurately simulate the behavior of the structural steel on the actual flange. This means that our test rig will provide more of a verification on how clamps are quicker to connect and disconnect compared to bolts.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Waiting on manufactures to respond in providing relevant sample data and properties of gaskets to be tested and also clamp reliability.
