Overall Design:
The final design is a wearable device that fits on the forearm and cools the skin with Peltier devices. This device consists of eight temperature stages with a temperature range from 0 to 20C. The cool sides of the Peltier devices are attached to specifically designed surface contacts that touch the skin directly, and the hot sides are cooled off by a closed loop water cooling system. Water is pumped through the closed loop from a reservoir to the water block then back to the reservoir, cooling the Peltier devices attached to the water block. The Peltier devices are temperature and time-controlled by a printed circuit board integrated an Arduino board that utilizes PID control method to reach and keep the Peltier device to the desired temperature. Doctors can see the current working status from a screen and adjust the setting temperature and time by buttons and knobs in the physical user interface box. The power supply to this device is 5 V. Additionally, the Blynk app is used to monitor the temperature controller so doctors can monitor and adjust the temperature easily through their phones.
