Prototyped smearing by spinning mechanism
Discuss the spinning method with sponsors
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Built the prototype for straw loading and disposal
Laser cut six gears and two racks (with different length)
Researched on stepper motor
Researched on H-bridge:
Built the prototype for spinning plate
Tested out the spinning method
Spinning speed 2200 rpm versus 4500 rpm for 3 seconds
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Purchase stepper motor and corresponding controller
Finish building up the storage and push system for the straw method
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Last meeting was on 1/14 and the comments were included in Week 2 Progress Report
Meeting on Friday
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Tried out the spin method
Straw method needs high level accuracy of control, could use spring loading instead
For straw method, a straw might make contact with the belt when it is dropped down
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Suggestion on using lead screw for linear actuating
Suggestion on having constraints for the slides on belt
Risks and Areas of Concern
Spinning method
Need to apply a lot of blood on a slide or flood the slide with blood
It helps the blood to dry but sometimes dries before properly spread the blood
Straw method
Currently need precise control to dispose the straw
