Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Finalized the design for the prototype
Most parts are ready to be assembled
Metal parts need to be machined
Planned to be assembled by Monday
Started drafting the manufacturing plan for commercialization. The design will be different than the prototype (talked with Chris about injection molding and Ian/Steve for the spool design)
Tested if the thickness of the metal plate/blade has an impact on the sticker detaching
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Improved the design to make it more efficient for DFM/DFA
Designed and laser cut the box, acrylic mounts and spacers for shaft
Designed and printed rollers, tape holders, handle and bullnose without the sheet metal
Improved top spool design for manufacturing by talking with Ian
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Machine top spool (Shancheng and Chris)
Assemble Box, hub, bullnose, roller (Ngoc and Aliya)
Test and reiterate (Team)
Improve friction break design and build it (Team)

Don't forget to put scale/dimensions on the presentation (05/02 - in person)
Mention that the device is meant to sit on a table (05/02 - in person)
Improve the handle mechanism (05/02 - in person). Action taken: we will build the current design to observe the behavior of the tape before going to a different mechanism
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
2 turns might be might too much (05/02 - in person)
Consider a ball/socket for the handle (05/02 - in person): but the problem is that the roll of tape changes thickness so the distance to one sticker changes
Risks and Areas of Concern
Brake Design: will they be enough friction for the sticker to be peeled off
Making the tape easily accessible from the outside
