Project Objectives
High Priority Objectives
Design and prototype a device that can prevent the transmission of pathogens from stethoscope use while being convenient and portable.
Second Priority Objectives
Create a detailed plan for commercialization
Other Constraints and Issues
The device must be portable, fast-acting, and reasonably-priced.
WOW Design Solution
Commercial implementation
Risk Reduction Strategy
Research the extent doctors sterilize stethoscopes.
Look up existing products to know what has already been done.
Perform simple experiments to test effectiveness of different sterilization methods, paying attention to the time and effort required for sufficient sterilization.
Intermediate Milestones
1. Brainstorm ideas
2. Analyze effective sterilization methods
3. Analyze and compare different design options
4. Work out the details of chosen design
5. Create a prototype
6. Work out the details for commercialization
