Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Die cutter design: After talk and testing with Tom and Wayne, using a die cutter required a lot more force than we would want the doctor to produce, even when using a lever.
Roller mechanism for die cutter:
New design: sticker dispenser using a motor, a bullnose and a breaking with a break
Went over different break mechanisms with Ian (friction drum brake, friction brake, magnetic break).
Measure an approximate breaking force 5 lb for the PET sticker.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Tested cutting tape with pseudo die cutter (tube of steel sharpened in a lathe)
Decided not to build the linkage design because most likely we are not going forward with the die cutter design
Conceptually designed a roller mechanism for tape
Conceptually designed the new mechanism using actual stickers
Collected and analyzed data from sound testing different materials
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Design break and motor (position control) systems (Chris and Shancheng)
CAD and build a prototype for the proof of concept of the new sticker dispenser design (Ngoc and Aliya)

Take a look at aseptiscope, a local company also making stickers for stethoscopes (04/18 - in person)
Overall satisfied (04/18 - in person)

Inform the sponsor about NSR concerning IRB (04/18 - in person)
Perform a statistical analysis of the sound testing data using CV and r^2 and validate the testing method, will be addressed in the next weeks (04/18 - in person)
New design for sticker dispenser: consider using low tack carrier and rotary die cutting to make the stickers, if time allows we will make our own stickers, but the focus is on the mechanism at the moment (04/23 - in person)
Consider bullnose for the dispensing mechanism, will be included in the design. A 90 degree angle was tested and worked. (04/23 - in person)

Risks and Areas of Concern
Position control: the tape's diameter is changing as the tape unrolls
Applying the right amount of force on the break to maintain tension on the spool
Making the entire device mechanical using ratchets/CAM/pawl
Having enough electrostatic interactions between the dispensing platform and the sticker
Resources or Information Required but not Available
