Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Did tests on mouse brain sample last week
New nozzle is almost done being manufactured, will be tested on Thursday or Friday
Another new design will be made this week (two-part design with channels)
CFD analysis on various two-outlet designs
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Microscope test on organic sample using reference 0.5mm carbon fiber needle
New Tip designs (multi-layer manifold with multiple outlets)
Machined 30% Carbon reinforced PEEK nozzle that splits flow into two streams
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finish testing on 0.2mm slot nozzle (Everyone)
Finish machining and testing on Tip designs (Dylan for machining and everyone else for testing)

Two layer tip design
New design in progress
CFD simulation in progress
Use the brian sample which does not charge as much as gold one before
Use one big piece to replace the role of carbon fiber needle

Possibility of increasing number of vacuum pumps?
No, it is not possible to add more pumps to the microscope
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Prototyping will be a huge advantage to getting results (5/4/18, via email)
Work on making eye contact and speaking clearly and audibly while presenting (5/4/18 via email)
Risks and Areas of Concern
Difficulties in machining
Two layers assembly requires high precision
High risk in leaking
New manifold does not converge flows and not improve the result
