Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Complete design of the bronchoscope device was done and dimensions were finalized to build a prototype
The control knob was simplified to a knob that can be put into the prototype
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Machined all of our components needed to build a prototype
Printed a few iterations of the control body and the inside housing
Inside housing will contain the components needed for detachment and engagement/disengagement of the shaft mechanism
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Build a working prototype by Wednesday with the requirements of actuating the distal tip and disengaging the control body from the insertion tube (All)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
in person, 5/23
concern about wear and tear of shaft cap
with working prototype by Wednesday, can go to simulation lab with Dr. Somal on Friday possibly
will get Bluetooth camera dimensions/specifications from Dr. Somal
incorporating two 1.5mm working channels
received epidural catheter
next meeting Wednesday 1PM
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
in person, 5/23
clearance on shaft for other components
concerns with added diameter after welding
concerns with aluminum rotating against aluminum
consider brass
space for camera
make rigid insertion tube piece out of Delrin
consider machining a sleeve
stainless steel thin wall tubing
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Look into a control knob from mcmastercarr
Risks and Areas of Concern
Difficult to detach the insertion tube from the control body
Connecting the angulation wires to the shaft is difficult since creating a hole on the shaft must be created for support of the wires and this has been an issue in the past
The shaft is small in diameter
Size 60 drill bit breaks when drilling
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Schedule
5/30/18 Meet with sponsors to present first tangible prototype of entire device
5/30-6/3 Create second prototype
5/31-6/3 Simulations on finalized designs and past designs considered
Continue working on report, poster, and webpage.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Progress on Report and Webpage
Will evaluate the comments received from other team and implement changes.
