Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Pursuing detachment mechanism with spring plungers
Pursuing control lever mechanism with flaps
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Built and tested detachment mechanism involving base plate, spring plungers, rigid insertion tube piece
Redesigned control lever mechanism to scale for testing
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Build and test control lever mechanism with insertion tube shaft (Matt, Gio)
Solidify detachment mechanism (Mark, Eric)
Finish CAD (eric)
Machine the shaft/cap shaft (mark, matt) **New way of attaching shaft to the rest of insertion tube instead of cutting it. We spoke to Tom about this idea and he said this seemed promising*
Bring the components together into one prototype (all)

(in person, 5/16)
screwing in the rigid part of the insertion tube to the flexible tubing
better connection
try to machine components first (rigid top of insertion tube)
instead of waiting for a week or so for machine shops
if we have issues machining, then we can work with machine shops
try 3D printing multiple parts as well
can get aluminum stock from their lab
can purchase bending section mesh, plungers, bearing
talk to Dr. Somal about parts we can get and then use for prototyping
send him parts list
cook to act as insertion tube
calculate some analysis on the flaps to see force/deflection relationship, FEA analysis
meeting Friday, 5/18 at 2 PM in the downstairs conference room
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Don't have to worry about the alignment of control lever with insertion tube shaft (in person, 5/14)
Not much trouble with rotation lever a bit to find correct location
Talk to Tom about parts that need to be machined (in person, 5/14)
