Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Analysis/Tests:
Calibrated Potentiometers using Multimeter and Recording Data at Various Angles of Rotation
Results = Linear
Tested and Calibrated Hardware in the Wind Tunnel and using O-Scope
Results = Performed very well: Clean Signal, Linear Relationship of Voltage to Wind Speed, and similar if not better results than anemometer provided by Hunter (tested earlier in quarter)
Preliminary Tests of Entire Device were Completed
Results = After debugging the program, an Effective and Successful Program/Device was Accomplished (First Video under "Multimedia" link on webpage)
Design:
Refined and Updated CAD, and 3D Printed New Components for an Optimized Device
Fabrication:
Spent much time Refining the Assembly to Create a Better Rotating Anemometer
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Refined CAD and 3D Printed New Components
Refined Assembly
Edited Report
Completed Draft Poster
Calibrated Potentiometers
Calibrated/Tested Hardware and Signal with O-Scope and Wind Tunnel
Ran Preliminary Tests on Entire Device using DC Motor and Household Fan
Reserved Parking for Sponsor for Poster Presentations
Contacted Isaiah about Space Needs for Poster Presentations
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Complete a Final Testing of the Entire Device's Performance in the Wind Tunnel (3/13) - AllÂ
Complete a Final Presentation of the Project and Hardware Demonstratation at Hunter -All
Complete Final Drafts of Poster, Report, and Webpage - All
Optimize Hardware and Prepare for Poster Presentation - All
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting (3/6) and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Call Mark Shearin (Hunter Industries Electrical Engineer) for help with Microcontroller
Action = Was Contacted, but debugging was already Completed
Find out about Wind Tunnel Testing
Action = Wind Tunnel Testing was set up with Isaiah Freerksen for Friday (3/9) and Tuesday (3/13)
Find out about Parking for Poster Presentations
J.V. Agnew was Contacted for a Reservation
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting (3/6) and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Possibly use Fan/Oscilloscope for Demonstration during Poster Presentations
Action = We have a Fan, and its Speeds have been Measured to Test Accuracy of Device with a Hot-Wire Anemometer
Action = Isaiah Freerksen was also contacted for Space Needs
Possibly use Decals for Wind Speed Dials
Action = Decal Paper was Procured
Risks and Areas of Concern
Microcontroller/Software Issues were Resolved (3/12) with a Bread Board
The Proto (Soldered) Board to be Tested Again (First Testing, 3/11 wasn't as successful as with Bread Board on 3/12)
Check Relay and if it's Functioning Correctly
Resources or Information Required but not Available
