Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Welding is being done by Isaiah and Tom
Hope to begin testing next week with unloaded cabinet over tile, carpet, and concrete
Need to redesign the back plate (see Sponsor Comments)
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Machining was mostly finished. Left to do: back brace
Welding began and will be finished by the end of the week
Tipping Velocity Analysis Completed
FMEA completed
Wheel linkage and back plate stress analysis completed
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
New back plate - all
Testing of the powered mover with and without the unloaded cabinet - all
Set up obstacles (tile, carpet, etc) - Pegah
Report by all: see the final section
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Have 2 straps (one on top and one as low as possible
Wants a more professional looking brace that can be welded rather than bolted
Consider sharp edges of the legs. Soften the edges or add a cap
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
In the next presentation, show how our new parts attach to the existing parts (exploded view)
Add going down a ramp scenario to our tipping analysis
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Consider fatigue of platform
Someone liked the FMEA
Risks and Areas of Concern
Structural:
Ensure the platform and legs are strong enough
Ensure the linkage and bearings inside linkage function properly under full loading: analysis
Operation:
Ensure tipping is not a possibility by reducing acceleration / top speed of the unit : analysis
Ensure all clearance dimensions are met
Ensure cabinet is strapped in and secured: testing
Ensure cabinet is not scratched / damaged by unit: design
Schedule
Machining and welding this week
Testing next week!!!!
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
4200 truck, 143 wheels, 1500 steel, hardware, and extra purchases , 1200 waterjet cut. $5000 remaining.
Progress on Report and Webpage
Evin - add onto old analysis, analysis of performance, Comparison of prototype to final design
Nathan - ramp tipping analysis, analysis of performance, fabrication
Pegah - make edits according to Mike's comments on the first draft, testing
Michael - executive summary, budget
Ravi - Testing, fabrication
Operation manual, conclusions, recommendations - to be done later
