Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We have 3 design solutions drawn in a 3D modeling program. We have done tipping,
driving force, and lifting calculations. We are in the process of acquiring materials for our test bed
(carpet and tile, the cabinet, weights).
Accomplishments from Previous Week
We made 3D models of our solutions and received the sponors' opinion on each one. We
investigated several lifting systems online and went to a fork lift distributor to examine several
pallet trucks. We have asked for a quote from the manufacturer for buying the pallet truck with
modifications.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Start each individual component analysis from everyone on the team.
Meet with the sponsor on Monday at 11 to review the pallet truck options
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
They like our pallet truck options
They want UCSD to do all of our purchasing
They prefer a mechanical design solution rather than a hydraulic solution
- we plan to use a mechanical design solution
They want us to ensure the wheels on our lifting system can support the full load of their
cabinets
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Since we are only doing a theoretical risk reduction, Delson asked that we also perform
calculations on our system, which we did for the Risk Reduction Assignment.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Purchasing the right lifting system, being able to lift the cabinet, being able to
secure the cabinet
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Lab space to work and place our cabinet
Secure webpage
Schedule
Describe upcoming milestone: We hope to buy a pallet truck by the end of the week.
Update Gantt chart.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
No money spent. The pallet truck we purchase will cost 4-10 thousand dollars.
Progress on Report and Webpage
Team information has been added to the webpage. Information about the project will not
be added until the webpage is secure. We plan to do this by the end of the week.
