Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
The final design chosen is: a modified unit with widened legs and a non-modified unit with a ramp and winch system. They will be worked on simultaneously in case 1 fails or in hopes of delivering two products to the sponsor.
The pallet truck we will be purchasing is: PTE30, for 4200 dollars from pallettrucks.com.
The purchasing order is complete and will be given to Delson on Thursday, April 5. We hope the order will go through quickly. The cabinet will arrive 7-8 business days after the order is placed.
The analysis of our designs are being done is Solidworks and Femap this weekend.
The spare cabinet from Teradata will be delivered on: Tuesday, April 10.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
The individual component analyses were started by the team members.
A new distributor was visited to examine more pallet truck options.
A distributor was found that has the unit we desire, the PTE30. It can be shipped to us in 7-8 days.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finish stress analysis for both designs
Receive Teradata's spare cabinet
Receive pallet truck during Week 3
Buy the wheels of the cabinet mover
Engineer the modified unit design
Start machining parts like the ramp
Tess the winch ideas
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
The sponsors would like the pallet truck to be modified as little as possible, even if the legs are placed farther apart.
Sponsors suggested using both designs concurrently, which we plan to do.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Calculations were done as requested for the risk reduction
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Try to test the design solution before building it by using a model or another method
Risks and Areas of Concern
Modification of the unit - time, expertise, and cost
Safety of the ramp/winch design in putting the cabinet onto the truck and removing it from the truck
Location and attachment of wheels
Resources or Information Required but not Available
We still do not know yet if Teradata can give us a pallet truck to work on our ramp/winch design on.
Schedule
Receiving the pallet truck is important because it will be modified. Engineering and design of the modifications will be done as we are waiting for the unit to arrive.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$4199 spent, $7801 remaining.
we plan to buy more materials in the next few weeks (metal bars, wheels, etc.)
