Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Ball mount - 1st iteration of fabrication complete, adjustments were made to make the ball mount more robust and adjustable
Stress analysis on slider complete
Met with Solar Turbines to discuss what is to be expected by end of project
Accomplishments from Previous Week
1st iteration of acrylic test bed has been cut out by lasercamm and Jonathan has been improving on that 1st design
3D printing cartridge has been purchased for component fabrication
3D printing: 4x cone-shaped bosses, 4x sliders, 4x regular bosses, 1x ballhead v1, 4x ballhead v2
Solar's CAD package has been received, but we are having trouble finding the computers can can open it with the right software
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Place each boss design on its own separate acrylic test bed and then put the component on top - everyone
Do stress analysis on the ball head design (if possible) - Cary
Build 4 more acrylic test beds, put bosses in them, and then put the components on top - everyone is in charge of their own design

Ball head design - concern about the ball head coming out due to tilting of the turbine package (more stress analysis needed by Solar's stress analysis team)
Luis tried to get in contact with their SAT to get some feedback on that design
Build more 3D prototypes!
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Not enough work being shown/done (5/15/12 - Dr. Delson) - we've revamped our focus to building as many prototypes as we can to get a feel for how these designs will play out in real life
[on report] Not enough content, but formatting has been drastically improved - we will address that in our 2nd draft
