156B Week 10

Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.

• • Fabrication of Z-Boss Slider Assy is complete

    • Need to add top mount plate

  • 3D printing may be a big issue but new schedule may allow for it

    • Decided on printing 1 full scale model, and 4 scaled models for mock up

    • With time allotment now, may proceed to 4 large scale

  • Presentation scheduled for next week either thursday or friday

  • Thread Analysis was emailed out to Solar last week for review and help, expecting a response by today or tomorrow to include in final report

  • Finalized the Hemi Mount design

• • Use actual bolt/nut on slider - We acquired the needed nuts and bolts needed on wednesday after our meeting

  • Have plate on top w/ holes so we can align - Debating whether to use acrylic plate or metal plate

  • Label the bottom piece of the z-boss to know @ what height

  • Really emphasize that there is no cantilever loading so everyone can understand -  we will definitely review this in our presentation

  • Assembly process...picture of component on chains and cranes) ...maybe simulate crane.... - We took another shop tour last week, I have pictures

  • No default exploding view for assembly instructions - We are showing step by step

  • Floating nut for bolting down the component - We have expressed this to Solar and would most likely be used

• • Hemi Mount has the most concerns...simply because of possible physical constraints in adjusting the height

  • Bottom base of Hemi mount should be wide enough so that the weld is stronger
