Wisdom is magnetic: it attracts people tremendously, and with no visible cause.
Complete the BACKGROUND Webquest to know more about the historical events leading up to, during, and after the events of the play. The events around Julius Caesar's life had huge impact for the whole world and in some ways have continued to this day - for instance, the idea of democracy as a valid, perhaps ideal, form of government in the modern world.
The reading checks are simply factual questions about the scenes. They should help you better understand the scene and prepare you for the quizzes!
Quizzes on the scenes should be done regularly after reading the play. These quizzes count, but they are formative: this means they are meant to reinforce and to help build your knowledge and understanding of the scenes in the play.
Discussions will be had in small groups and then presented frequently (2 per week, roughly) to the whole class. These discussions are designed to make you think more critically about issues and events from the play AND in connection with the background and other information you have studied.
The end test will cover the content we studied and learned throughout the unit on this play. It will cover topics such as background, the facts from the play, rhetoric, dramatic terms -especially of tragedy-, and literary devices.
The essay assignment is the culminating assignment to be completed and certainly worth the most points. Keep this assignment in mind throughout the whole play and focus much of your discussion and quotations around this & it will repay you well.
