Module 4: Healing and forgiveness

Outcome: Deepen the journey of healing for personal and relational wounds of the past.

Practice

Make a timeline of your life.

    • Draw a line through the center of a sheet of paper, representing your life up to this point.

    • Spend some time thinking back over your life. Record formative events or seasons of your life on the timeline. Place positive events above the line and negative events below the line. Place events further above or below the more positive or negative the experience.

    • As you sit with your timeline, ask the Lord to show you any areas of your life that are wounded or relationships that are not whole. Lift those things up to Him and ask for His grace to bring the necessary healing.

    • Be especially aware of any areas where forgiveness is needed. It could be forgiving yourself for not living up to your expectations. Forgiving God for not acting how you wanted Him to. Forgiving others for not being what you needed. Or it could be asking forgiveness for ways you did not live in God’s ways, or you hurt others. Take time to seek and offer forgiveness wherever it is needed.

    • Take time to share some of these things with another person whom you trust and is able to help minister truth and forgiveness to you. Invite the person to pray with you for deeper levels of healing in these areas.
