Get Involved On Campus

Welcome home! We hope you enjoyed your time abroad and are looking forward to coming back to the ’burg.

Now is the time to reflect on your experience and how you might have changed as a result of studying abroad. We suggest you think about these questions and write down your responses. They will give you a basis in which to express the ways in which you have changed, which be very helpful in future job interviews:

      • What new experiences did you have while abroad that shocked or surprised you about the world?
      • What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
      • How do you feel now about those experiences after returning to the U.S.?
      • Are there certain values that you have let go of, kept, or modified?

Once back on campus, there are several ways to get involved:

      • Volunteer for the Study Abroad Fair during Family Weekend
      • Volunteer to be a panelist at Pre-Departure Orientation (held twice a year in mid-November and mid-April)
      • Mentor a future study abroad student who plans to attend the same program as you
      • Join an international-focused club or student organization
      • Apply for a study abroad peer advisor or study abroad student advisory board (SASAB) position (calls for applications are usually in mid-March)

Please keep an eye out for events throughout the year, which are opportunities for you to share your study abroad stories with others who have had the same amazing experiences!
