Blue Ridge Community College is currently recruiting distance students for AMT classes.
Distance AMT classes are scheduled to start this fall years and take place online, with the exception of laboratory classes held at the BRCC Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport facility every semester on an open-enrollment basis.
Requirements for Applicants:
1. Be a high school graduate or equivalent. High school students may be eligible on a space available basis only.
2. Consider taking the free Dantes Distance Learning Readiness Self-Assessment Online Assessment to see if you a good candidate for online instruction.
3. Take the SmarterMeasures Online Student Readiness Assessment ($29.95) and score at the 25 percentile or higher in 5 areas and send test results to the AMT Coordinator.
4. Complete the BRCC application for admission.
5. Complete an interview (face-to-face, Skype, or phone) with a member of the Aviation Maintenance Technology Program Head.
6. Complete MTH 103 Applied Technical Mathematics OR secure approval from the AMT Program Head.
7. Complete a Drug Test (See CastleBranch Drug Test Instructions below.)
8. Complete the Application for Airport Access Identification for Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport (See below).
and meet with the AMT Coordinator.
Optional: Submit a letter of recommendation from a licensed Aviation Maintenance technician.
