There are three options for students for completing the aviation maintenance technology laboratory courses:
Take the laboratory course at BRCC:
As scheduled.
At your convenience. BRCC AMT program anticipates having all laboratory courses available each semester on an as-needed basis in the future.
Take the laboratory course at another FAA-approve aviation maintenance technician school (AMTS) and transfer the course into BRCC. A student must complete 25% of the curriculum to be awarded a certificate or degree from BRCC.
For the Airframe Maintenance certificate = 10 credit minimum.
For the Powerplant Maintenance certificate = 10 credit minimum.
For the Aviation Maintenance Technology A.A.S. degree = 17 credit minimum.
Credit by Examination: (See BRCC Curriculum Summary below.)
A student may request Credit by Examination by submitting documentary evidence that he/she has equivalent training from a U.S. Military Technical School or at least twice the specific civilian or military aviation maintenance experience subject area hour time limit, with demonstrated skills in over half of the areas noted in each subject.
The student must secure approval from the principal subject instructor and the Aviation Maintenance Technology Program Coordinator.
Each portion of the exam must be passed sequentially: that is, the written must be passed before taking the oral exam; the written and the oral exams must be passed before the student may take the practical. The minimum passing grade is 75%.
If a student has passed the theory based course, for example AMT 105 Aviation Science for Mechanics and only is interested in credit by exam for AMT 106 Aviation Science for Mechanics Laboratory, there would be no written exam, only an oral and practical exam.
