Dear students and parents,
I hope you are doing well during this challenging time. I've connected with many of you over the past few weeks by email, video, and phone, and I hope to be able to see more of you as we continue remote learning. I am so sad for all of you that we aren't getting to finish the school year in the traditional way, but I am uplifted knowing that you live in such a supportive and caring community, and we will get through this.
I am writing today to let you know that I will not be returning to MHS in the fall as your guidance counselor. My family and I have decided to relocate to New Jersey, closer to our extended families. This was a very difficult decision, made so because of what I'm leaving behind in Medfield. This is truly a special community and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it for the past five years.
This is not how I imagined saying goodbye, but the current situation is also nothing that I ever imagined. Rather than dwell on what I have no control over, I want to tell you that it has been my pleasure to work with you, seeing your growth over the course of high school, and being there to help you along the way. I have loved coming to work everyday and it is something I will profoundly miss.
To my seniors, the Class of 2020, congratulations on this major milestone coming up. Even though we won't be together on May 31, we will find a way to celebrate your many accomplishments. Best of luck to you as you move on to the next step of your journey.
Thank you all for making my time here so memorable. Please continue to reach out to me this year with anything you need. Stay safe and remember that we will get through this time and come out the other side stronger.
Be well,
Mrs. Mahoney
