NOTE: All-State members do not need to provide a video unless the instrument that you played in the All-State Band is different than the instrument you will play in the Band of Pride. For example, if you played bassoon in the All-State Band but will play tenor saxophone in the marching band, be sure to provide an audition video. 

Step 2-Select one of the two etudes found here. Once you have prepared the music, and are ready to play the two octave (when possible) concert scales of B-flat, E-flat, A-flat, and F major as well as a two octave chromatic scale starting on the note of your choice. 

Step 3-Record yourself on your phone or computer. 

Be sure to begin the video (MP4) by stating your name and label the file with your last name. 

Step 4-Upload your video here! Or, send a link to a unlisted YouTube video to band@latech.edu. 

Step 2-For the initial round, perform any of cadence your choice plus the following two rudiments:

• Swiss Army Triplets and, 

• Flam Accents (in slow, fast, slow fashion)Face, hands, and feet must be visible. 

1. An audible metronome must be included. 

2. It is preferred that you perform on actual instruments obtained from your high school or through arrangements with Louisiana Tech, however practice pads are also acceptable. 

3. Mark time while performing. 

Step 3-Upload the recording to YouTube as an unlisted video and send the link to glyons@latech.edu.

All members will be required to attend the pre-camp sessions on the Louisiana Tech campus in which the final audition will take place. Housing and meals will be provided. 

OR Step 2-For those that cannot attend the in-person clinic and audition, the video posted here is for you to learn the routine. The video includes basic techniques including the following:

• Drop spins

• Red devil

• Blue devil

• Cones/Figure 8s/Witches brew

• Money hand toss

• Single 45 toss

Video auditions are due by Saturday, May 2! 

All members will be required to attend the pre-camp sessions on the Louisiana Tech campus in which the final audition will take place. Housing and meals will be provided. 

Step 2-Learn and record the routine to the Louisiana Tech Fight Song (found here)

Step 3-Create a video of the Fight Song AND your own 1 minute and 30 second to 2 and 30 second minute routine including as many of the following from the recommended list of tricks:

• • 3 spin

  • 1 spin toss illusion (forward and/or reverse)

  • Toss Leap (down field tricks)

  • Toss Sit Roll (down field tricks)

  • Intermediate rolls

  • Intermediate to Advanced 2 baton

  • Intermediate to Advanced 3 baton

  • Advanced body work

  • Showmanship

  • Recommended: toss cartwheel/walkover, double element trick

Step 4-Send an unlisted YouTube video link to Dr. Heidenreich (cph@latech.edu). 

No auditions are required for the Concert Band and meets 2 times a week performing 1 concert each quarter.

The Fall Wind Ensemble meets only during the Fall quarter. The ensemble rehearses 2 times a week, performing 1 concert. There is no audition requirement.
