This week we have thought about kindness, learning from the story of the Good Samaritan who stopped to help an injured stranger rather than walking by. We talked about how we could live out our values and our school vision "to think of each other, and to help each other, to show love and do good deeds" and how this sometimes means casting the net out wider to those who we don't yet know. Phil came in and extended the analogy by bringing in a rope to cast around all of those in assembly, widening the circle so that it went all around Year 3, then Year 4, then all of the children, and then the staff members present - to remind ourselves that being kind shouldn't have a limit.
As you'll see below, it's been a highly creative week, with lots of writing going on in classrooms and art being created (including the amazing display visiting Ely Cathedral this weekend).
Autumn seems to have well and truly arrived and we enjoy the change of the seasons, we are lucky and thankful to have such beautiful grounds here and some very established trees which are already beginning to change in shade. A reminder therefore to bring in coats and suitable warm clothing each day as the weather becomes less predictable.
Kind regards,
Oliver Graves, Headteacher
Mrs Broadbent and her After School Art Club have been working hard this term on the art project which will be displayed in Ely Cathedral this weekend.
The theme they were given this year was from this verse from the classic English Hymn and Poem "All Things Bright and Beautiful", written by Cecil Frances Alexander:
Each little flower that opens
Each little bird that sings
He made their glowing colours
He made their tiny wings
