The first week of term has brought with it the early signs of autumn — including a full day of rain that reminded us all how important it is for children to bring coats as the weather begins to turn. Even with the changing season, the atmosphere in school has been wonderfully calm and settled. Classrooms are purposeful, teachers are setting clear expectations, and children have quickly found their stride.
Our first celebration assembly of the year was a real highlight. It gave us the chance to praise pupils who are already living out our RESPECT values so beautifully. Seeing children recognised for kindness, effort, and positive choices sets the tone for the weeks ahead.
We are also looking forward to swimming sessions for Years 4 and 5, taking place at The Hive swimming pool over the next four weeks. It’s always a valuable part of the curriculum, and the children are already excited for their first dip.
A heartfelt thank you goes to parents and carers for supporting our uniform expectations. School uniform plays an important role in helping children feel a sense of belonging and community. It removes pressure to look or dress a certain way and ensures that no child feels different or singled out.
In collective worship this week, we explored the idea of new beginnings. We returned to the very start of the Bible, to Genesis, and reflected on how every person is different — yet each one of us is unique, special, and of equal value. It was a meaningful way to begin the year together.

School messages and themes
Ms Law and Ms Gardner have been working together to ensure that the themes for our assemblies and collective worship are continued throughout the week.
This week the theme of new beginnings included a question and a challenge, which will form an opportunity for staff to share which children they have seen rising to the challenge and embodying our values.
Attached is a picture from our Collective Worship board, which children can check in with in our school hall during the lunch sitting to remind themselves of the theme and the challenge.
In class assemblies the children have been following the "picture news" and this week discussed the extraordinary life and charity work of the late, great Dolly Parton.

Thank you to our catering team for always presenting the school meals so beautifully.
