School times for 2023-24
Ellis Elementary's first day of school is August 16, 2023.
Key school times for Ellis families:
Classes begin at 8:15 AM.
Playground supervision begins at 8 AM.
Gates will be locked at 8:30 AM and unlocked at dismissal.
Mon-Thurs, grades 1-5 are dismissed at 2:30pm.
On Fridays, grades TK, K-3 are dismissed at 12:45. Grades 4-5 are dismissed at 2:30 as usual.
Kindergarten and TK times:
Up through September 30, dismissal for TK and Kindergarten is at 11:35 AM.
After September 30, TK/K are dismissed at 2:25 on Monday-Thursday, and 12:45 on Fridays.
After-school care is available at Ellis through KLAS and California Young World.

Talk with your child's teacher about which Gates will be used for their drop-off and pick-up.
Any person coming on campus must enter through the Ellis Office.
Free MEALS
All students can get breakfast and lunch at Ellis for free during the school year 2023-24
Each student can get 2 meals per day for free. Vegetarian options are offered.
Parents do not need to sign up for the program for kids to get free meals.
The Sunnyvale School District has a meal sign-up form.
Sign-up is not required during 2023-24 school year but is recommended.

Campus Construction
Ellis is under construction for this school year.
The school is being upgraded, with a new two-story classroom building, a multi-use building, a modular kindergarten building, and a modular daycare building.
There will be modernization of 5 existing buildings, 3 new parking and drive-through/drop-off areas, a bus drop-off zone, 2 new lunch shelters, an amphitheater/open space area, and external improvements.

After School Programs
There are two After School Programs at Ellis: California Young World and Kids Learning After School (KLAS).
KLAS (Kids Learning After School)
KLAS is open to Ellis students. Contact the principal directly at (408) 522-8260 for more information.
KLAS offers a safe learning environment. It helps students with academic, physical, and arts enrichment activities.
All students are eligible to participate, based on availability and teacher recommendation. The program is partially funded by the After School Education and Safety Program (ASES).
California Young World
California Young World is a child development center located at Ellis School. It has preschool and school-age before & after school child care. If your child is in CYW, let your teacher know. CYW will pick up TK and Kindergarten students, and your teacher can help your child.
