We need your help! Ellis PTA is always looking for volunteers to lead or help with events and programs.
To volunteer in the classroom or on campus with students, you'll need to complete a volunteer application through the Sunnyvale School District.
All volunteers must have the following to be cleared:
Completed volunteer form
TB clearance
Fingerprinting (this is required for all volunteers who wish to chaperone field trips or read in the classroom and only needs to be done one time and covers all children in the family.)
Reminder: Please confirm any volunteer services with the principal, teacher or PTA before you begin. All volunteers coming to the Ellis campus during school hours must sign in and out at the main office every time they are on campus. Thank you for your attention to this important procedure.
After School Programs Team: The team operates behind the scenes and does things like:
Coordinate with the school and vendors on the details of programs, including session timing and cost, scheduling their classes, and invoices
Coordinate the scholarships and timing of everything
Prepare content for the communications chair to post on the website
Liaison to field questions, requests, and issues from school admin, vendors, and parents
Any tasks that will help the programs run smoothly
If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering, please reach out to us at afterschool@ellispta.org.
Direct Appeal Chair: The PTA runs a fall direct appeal fundraiser to raise $25,000. The direct appeal chair writes letters explaining fundraising goals and tracks donations and writes thank you notes. The chair also coordinates the popcorn party once the goal is reached. Busiest time: August - December.
Hospitality Team: The hospitality team organizes parents from each grade to donate monthly staff snacks throughout the year, as well as leads the efforts for Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, and provides snacks for PTA meetings five times a year.
Project Cornerstone volunteer readers: help Ellis students build their understanding, respect, and compassion for fellow classmates. Project Cornerstone is an initiative run by YMCA Silicon Valley to build strong school communities. You will have access to lesson plans and books to read to students once a month.
Grant Writer: We’re looking for someone to search for grant opportunities that meet the PTA executive board priorities. The person would also plan a process for grant applications within the Ellis community.
All events need publicity, budget management, coordination of volunteers, coordination with the school and district. Events need plenty of volunteers approximately a month prior to the event up to the day of the event.
