We need your help! Ellis PTA is always looking for volunteers to lead or help with events and programs.

If you would like to volunteer at school, please complete or renew your volunteer application through Sunnyvale School District. All volunteers must have a completed application as well as:
TB clearance
All adult volunteers must have a current TB clearance. TB clearance is valid for four (4) years.
If your TB clearance on file is still current, you do not need to submit a new one. If your TB clearance has expired, please obtain an updated TB clearance and upload the documentation to your Better Impact account.
Fingerprinting
All adult volunteers are now required to complete fingerprinting with the Sunnyvale School District, regardless of the type of volunteer service they provide.
If you have already completed fingerprinting with the Sunnyvale School District, you do not need to complete fingerprinting again. Fingerprinting is a one-time requirement with our District.
If you were fingerprinted through another agency or school district, you will need to complete fingerprinting specifically for the Sunnyvale School District.
Complete the District's Mandated Volunteer Training
All volunteers are required to complete the District's mandated volunteer training before volunteering. Complete the Mandated Volunteer Training

After completing the training, please save your certificate of completion and upload it to your Better Impact account.

Special Ed Liaison: We are looking for a parent of a child in special education at Ellis who would like to share your ideas for how our events and programs can be more inclusive.
Direct Appeal Coordinator: We are looking for someone to run our direct appeal fundraising campaign in the fall (September to December). We need to raise $25,000 from direct donations from parents and corporate matches to fund PTA events and programs for the school.
Project Cornerstone Co-Lead: Our current Project Cornerstone lead is looking for a bilingual parent to be a co-lead to support Spanish-language lesson plans.
Project Cornerstone Volunteer Readers: Help Ellis students build their understanding, respect, and compassion for fellow classmates. Project Cornerstone is an initiative run by YMCA Silicon Valley to build strong school communities. You will have access to lesson plans and books to read to students once a month. We are looking for both English and Spanish readers for every classroom!
You Are The Artist (YATA) Volunteer Teachers: Bring more art into your student's classroom by volunteering for this program. Each trimester you will be provided with a two-session lesson plan, art supplies, and support--for a total of six sessions over the course of the school year. Sign up with your student's teacher during Open House if you'd like to volunteer.
Grant Writer: We’re looking for someone to search for grant opportunities that meet the PTA executive board priorities. The person would also plan a process for grant applications within the Ellis community.

Event Volunteer Opportunities
All events need publicity, budget management, coordination of volunteers, coordination with the school and district. Events need plenty of volunteers approximately a month prior to the event up to the day of the event.
