Pickleball program isn’t just about the game itself; it embodies a fundamental principle underlying sportsmanship worldwide, as epitomized by the founder of the modern Olympic Games: “The essence of pickleball isn’t solely about winning, but rather about engaging fully in the game, much like the spirit of the Olympics. Victory is not the ultimate goal; rather, it’s about embracing the challenges and giving your best effort on the court. Success lies not in conquering opponents, but in playing with determination and skill.”
In our after-school pickleball program, we instill this maxim into the everyday experiences of our students on the court. While winning is gratifying, simply participating and contributing to the team are paramount in Pickleball Pursuits.

Description: The Yes For Chess after-school enrichment program uses chess to teach kids creative problem solving and critical thinking, in a fun and stimulating setting. We work with all skill levels, even for students with no chess experience. With the idea that children will learn chess if they are having fun, we recruit instructors that are great with kids and have a background in chess, instead of the stereotypical chess professional who struggles to connect with a classroom of children. Our approach is a refreshing alternative to the sometimes overly competitive world of scholastic chess, and we are confident that Yes For Chess would be a fantastic addition to your school enrichment program!

Even though these After School Programs occur after the school day, we still expect all students and adults to have Ellis Pride. Any behavior to the contrary may result in being removed from the program without refund or recourse. Please make sure to talk to your children about making good choices before signing up.
Safe – Any unsafe behavior by the participant will result in immediate removal at the discretion of the teacher or program leaders.
Respectful – We expect children and adults to be respectful to teachers, volunteers, and other children. We all want the best experiences for our children.
Responsible – The participant is responsible for any equipment or materials necessary for the program. The program leaders will work to communicate dates and program changes as much in advance as possible. It is the family’s responsibility to manage their calendar.
Please contact our After School Program Team at afterschool@ellispta.org if you have any questions.
We are actively looking for cleared parent volunteers who can help TK/K students transition from their classrooms to their after school programs. Please contact Claudia at claudia.estrada@sesd.org if you're able to help.
All Grade 1-5 students will need to transition by themselves to their after school programs upon dismissal (Mon-Thurs 2:30 p.m., Fri grades 1-3 12:45 p.m., grades 4-5 2:30 p.m.). All After School Program instructors will be present to facilitate check-in with the students. Please make sure you communicate with your students in a timely manner about their classes.
If your student goes to CYW/KLAS, please inform CYW/KLAS what days your student will attend an after school program. Please make sure that the after school program knows that your student needs to be dropped off at their aftercare upon completion of the class.
With the exception of Friday basketball, parents are to pick up their children directly from their after school program. For Friday basketball, the instructor will walk students to the gate near the front office upon dismissal and will be released to their guardian or caretaker.
If a student was absent at school due to health concerns, then he/she is not able to attend the after school program.
Classes will happen rain or shine.
