Elders Climate Action-Twin Cities offers a five-week class, Understanding and Acting on the Climate Crisis. This upbeat series of five 90-minute meetings is designed for people interested in learning more about climate change and climate justice; becoming more effective in communicating with friends, family, community members and leaders about climate change; and taking action to mitigate the impact of climate change on our planet and ourselves.
The class covers the basic science of climate change as well as the equity issues, and surveys the wide range of climate change solutions, including the most recent renewable energy technologies. Climate change opinions as well as productive ways to raise and discuss climate are explored. Participants will use a powerful simulation tool to explore and discuss the relative positive impacts of various climate solutions when implemented individually and in various combinations. This hopeful and inspiring class empowers participants to effectively communicate with others and join together to take action on climate change.
