YouScience:  Discover your aptitudes, true strengths and make career decisions

The Elbert County School District is dedicated to helping all of our students reach their highest potential. The transition from high school to additional school, training, or straight to a career is an important goal. It is our priority for students to have the necessary tools to successfully manage this major life change.  

 The challenge lies in discovering each student’s unique set of talents and understanding how those talents will drive college, career, and life choices.  That’s why we are excited to share with you our partnership with YouScience, provided by the state of Georgia and no cost to ALL of our students.

The YouScience journey begins in 6th grade. From 6th through 12th grade students will complete different steps in their YouScience profile, and will continue to have access after high school.  The program gives our students the opportunity to discover their unique set of talents and provides faculty and counseling staff the ability to deliver even more effective and accurate assistance.  

This program takes students through a series of assessments and interest questions.  The results include a review of the student’s strengths, suggested environments where they will succeed, detailed information on possible careers, dual enrollment opportunities, majors, colleges, and much more.  A school counselor will help them review and interpret the comprehensive results. Results are also used during to complete graduation plans.

Georgia middle and high school students are now able to use Yo​uS​c​ience's interest and aptitude assessments for free. 
From the YouScience website: "YouScience’s patent pending algorithm combines aptitudes, interests, and 21st century careers to make the highest quality career and educational recommendations. Previously, this was only available through professional counselors costing thousands of dollars. We use 5-to-8 minute performance based exercises for each aptitude to capture true areas of highest potential. Our assessment does not rely on self-reported user data, which can be ‘gamed’ or manipulated. We show exactly where your personal abilities are best aligned with over 500 career options, and it’s all in one online experience."
