Beginning Kindergarten can be both exciting and scary! Our goal at the Eastern Lancaster County School District is to support your family and child in transitioning to Kindergarten by developing relationships, creating partnerships, providing family opportunities to learn and explore together, and connecting with the community!
To support our families in Kindergarten Transition, we host several events that build excitement, help families and children make connections to our schools, teachers, and administrators, and allow your child to become more comfortable with you by their side.
See Kindergarten Transition Events below...
Each Fall, a take-home pack with pre-made activities that focus on early learning skills is created to share with ELANCO families! The activities focus on fine motor development, early literacy skills, and early numeracy skills.
The Kindergarten Pre-Registration Packs are available to families in the ELANCO community with children ages 4-5 who will be registering their child for kindergarten the following school year. Packs will need to be picked up at the families home school (Blue Ball Elementary, New Holland Elementary or Brecknock Elementary) on the designated pick-up date.
*Please note that a child is eligible to enter kindergarten if they are 5 years of age prior to September 1st the year of entrance.

All Ready for Kindergarten Kits
All incoming kindergarten learners have access to a FREE All Ready for Kindergarten Kit (shown below).
This year, the kit will be available to all incoming kindergarten learners who have completed registration!
The All Ready for Kindergarten Kit includes a Parent Guide, whiteboard, dry erase marker, letters, bug counters, dice, shapes, shape cards, an activities book, and more! Activities are designed to support your child's learning in reading and math with a focus on identifying and writing letters, identifying the first sound in a word, rhyming, writing, counting, identifying shapes, sorting, and length.
Each summer, Kindergarten Play Days are held at local parks and playgrounds for each elementary building giving families the opportunity to connect before the children enter kindergarten. Family connections can offer great supports, friendships, and more!
Registered kindergarten families will be sent invitations to a Kindergarten Play Day at the Park in June!
Children will hear a story read by one of our building principals, receive a free book, and play with new and old friends! A scavenger hunt is provided to enjoy at your leisure!
