Board Policy 201: Admission of Students

A child is eligible for admission to kindergarten if s/he has attained the age of five (5) before September 1st.

Children who enroll and are six years old prior to September 1 will attend first grade as beginners. If you would like additional information regarding the process for a six-year-old to attend Kindergarten, please contact Alice Irwin at: alice_irwin@elanco.org or 717-354-1522. Please note that these inquiries must be initiated by May 1st to be considered.

Welcome to the Eastern Lancaster County School District!

To assist you in registering your child for kindergarten, we have provided a checklist with information regarding needed documents for your convenience. Please use this document as a guide to assist you in the registration process. More information regarding the documents below can be found here under ‘Registration Checklist’.

Prior to submitting the online registration forms, you will be prompted to upload several documents that are part of the registration process. Without these documents, the school district is unable to process your child's registration. The first four documents on the checklist are needed to complete the registration process. The remaining documents are needed if they apply to your family.

WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN

All incoming kindergarten learners have access to a FREE All Ready for Kindergarten Kit (shown below).

The All Ready for Kindergarten Kit includes a Parent Guide, whiteboard, dry erase marker, letters, bug counters, dice, shapes, shape cards, an activities book, and more! Activities are designed to support your child's learning in reading and math with a focus on identifying and writing letters, identifying the first sound in a word, rhyming, writing, counting, identifying shapes, sorting, and length.

All Ready for Kindergarten Kits will be handed out at our Kindergarten Open House Nights!
