What a fantastic first term the children have all had in year 1! They have made such fabulous progress and have worked so hard. To reward the children for a long hard term we had some special visitors at school today! We very much enjoyed meeting Blitzen and Steve and learning all about reindeer.Â
The year 1 team would like to wish the children and their families a very happy Christmas and wonderful new year. See you in 2024!
This term the children have been learning all about Autumn and really enjoyed a visit to Hyde Hall where they took part in lots of fun and exciting activities linked to their learning. They used autumnal materials to print into clay, hid conkers just like a squirrel and made a book mark using Autumn leaves. The children were really well behaved and we had a fantastic day!
This week has all been about fireworks! We have written some fireworks poems and made some beautiful fireworks pictures. We have used different mediums to create these. The children could either use: pipe cleaners and paint, glue and glitter, salt and water colours or chalk pastels.Â
Arcimboldo Artwork
Thank you for all your Autumn treasure collections over half term. We have used them to make some fabulous faces in the style of the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Can you spot your child's artwork below?
Diwali Party!
Today we had a Diwali party to celebrate the end of our learning about this fantastic festival! We made our own sandwiches (choosing either jam, ham or cheese) and the children chopped up some fruit ready to make our fruit kebabs in the afternoon. We enjoyed eating our sandwiches and fruit kebabs that we made ourselves!
Christmas Craft Afternoon
This week in year one, we have been writing a letter to Father Christmas. In our letters we asked him some fantastic questions, told him something we are proud of and what we wish for Christmas. Also, we had a great Christmas craft afternoon creating lots of decorations, elves and wreaths. Thank you to all who participated - we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!Â
