MONEY WEEK
In class, we took part in a quiz about the cost of everyday items to kickstart our Money Week. From this, we found out about the National Minimum Wage and had to calculate how much someone on this wage would earn in a day, a week, a month and annually. We also created mind maps to show all the 'outgoings' adults have to consider. In pairs, we enjoyed 'shopping' for somebody earning the minimum wage and planned a weekly food shop and meal plan but we had to ensure that every meal included one portion or fruit/vegetables. We also completed various challenges and problem solving activities linked to money in our maths lessons.
JEWISH MUSIC WORKSHOP
We were fortunate enough to be able to take part in a music workshop in school this week. Within the workshop, we were taught key words and phrases in Yiddish and sang some songs in Yiddish. It was interesting to hear about the celebrations the Jewish community celebrate and we enjoyed learning lots of new words and songs. Our workshop leaders played the accordion and clarinet for us too!
BOOK WEEK
As part of book week, we were able to pay a visit to Rayleigh Library to take part in some activities and to borrow some new books. For World Book Day, we dressed as our favourite book characters, paid a visit to another class to hear a story being read, shared some of our favourite books with each other and took part in a World Book Day quiz.
