Science Fair 2019-2020

2020 CYSF Participants

Unfortunately, the CYSF 2020, will not be going ahead this year. We appreciate all of your hard work and dedication!

Congratulations to all students who will be attending the CYSF at the University of Calgary's Olympic Oval in April. Students will be working on their projects every Monday at lunch to make sure they have covered all areas of focus.

Please visit the www.cysf.org for any questions you may have or contact me at gppond@cbe.ab.ca.

Reminder

  • This will be the last Friday to work on science fair. Please review the expectations for either Experimental/Research areas to be covered. This was given to students at the start of the year, as well as the questions that the judges will be asking.
  • Please visit www.cysf.org for more information. Click on students/parents and review the categories. Information on experimental/research questions, judging questions etc can be found here.

FLEX this week

  • Students (grade 7's) will be given some time this week during flex to put the finishing touches on their science fair projects. Mrs. Pond's room will also be open everyday at lunch (except Wednesday) for extra support.

*The Science Fair is fast approaching. Students should be thinking about how they will be setting up their tri-folds.

*Mrs. Pond's room will be open at lunch, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until winter break for students who would like to work on their projects.

Jan 8th, 2020

We will be hosting our 4th Annual Science Fair on January 23rd from 5:30-7:30pm. All students are expected to attend to show case all of their hard work!!

Room 204 (Mrs. Pond) will be open at lunch for extra support until Jan 22nd (Not Wednesdays due to supervision).

We are very excited to be participating in our 4th Annual Science Fair!!

Students have been assigned to their science fair classrooms. They have either chosen to work by themselves or with a partner. It is very important that if the partnership is not working that they inform their teacher so that changes can be made and not to wait until the last minute. They have been given a log book that must be filled in every Friday. They have also been given a time-line of what aspects of the "Scientific Method" should be completed so that they do not fall behind. https://drive.google.com/file/d/11OK5zEbkvcnsvJpQb1lklHb_3EDgOOVS/view will be working on the science fair projects every Friday. Nose Creek Science Fair will take place towards the end of January and the city wide fair will be April 17, 2020! Approximately 25 projects will be chosen to represent our school!

If you have any questions or concerns please contact your child's science fair teacher or Mrs. Gail Pond at gppond@cbe.ab.ca (science fair coordinator).
