Term 3 has started and so far the Year 6 students have been learning about angles. The different types of angles we have been learning about is right angles, straight angles, reflex angles, acute angles, obtuse angles and full angles, We also have been learning complementary angles and supplementary angles and how to measure them using a protractor. This is very useful for us to learn because it helps us in geometry and measurement.
To kick off term 3, we have been working on our Poetry! We have learnt all about different poetic structures and how poets create texts to express their thoughts, feelings and beliefs. It has been amazing to explore lots of different poems but we are excited to put our argusing skills to good use for our next unit...
PERSUASIVES!

This week, we revisited cartesian planes and coordinates and had a chance to create really awesome pictures using the coordinates we were given! It was so cool to see the pictures coming together as we plotted each point!
In week 4, we started our persuasive unit by first looking at lots of different persuasive texts, including some persuasive speeches written by kids! Here is the link to one of our favourite speeches written by a little boy named Simon:
So far in health, we have looked at the changes that happen to both men and women during puberty. While we have felt uncomfortable at some times, we have learnt that it is important to be infromed about our own bodies.
In week 4, all year 6 students had the chance to visit the Queen Victoria Market and learn about how the market makes decisions around sustainability and ethics. For literacy, we have been continuing to refine our knowledge and understanding of persuasive texts and ways that we can persuade our audience. We have been exploring Pathos, Ethos and Logos as ways that authors can convince readers of their point of view. It has been lots of fun applying those skills to our own market day ads in CBL
In health at the moment, we have been exploring body image and beauty standards. It has been interesting to see how the media portrays bodies and their purpose. We have learnt that its important to love ourselves and our bodies just the way they are!
In year 6 we have started to plan our market day. Students were given groups and decided on what they were going to sell. They had started to practice making their products and prices, make advertising posters ect. Our year 6 community are very excited for this exciting day.

On Wednesday the 17th of September, our CBL unit came to an end and the year 6 cohort held their Market Day for the years 3, 4 and 5 students. The day was a great success and we raised more that $2000 for various charities! A big congratulations to all of the grade 6 students who participated in the market, both on the day and throughout the preparation! Your hard work was appreciated by not only your customers, but also the staff of ACPS.
