G'day! My name is Felipe and I am one of the STEM captains for 2021. I like: sport, reading and mathematics. I am looking forward to making STEM fun this year. One of my roles is to update you on school events on this page like: Print-a-Car, Culture & Identity Day, Interschool Sports and so on. So stay tuned for more.
Last week was our STEM day with the theme of "deep blue." There were lots of exciting events, science experiments and a special presentation from Ben, who works as a scientist! Some of these exciting events included the foundation-year 2 students exploring sinking and diving, the 3/4 students made a cartesian diver and the 5/6s observed a cool volcano that our school captain Urijah bought in. the 5/6 students explored our oceans using VR and were challenged with a variety of experiments such as testing the speed that fruit sank. It was great to see some of our students dress up and enjoy celebrating science.
Welcome back for another great term! We are all happy to see everyone again! Look forward for science day later this term! There will also be house cross country this term!
Congratulations to the bat tennis A stream for getting runners up in the interschool sports final.
We would like to thank Mario and James for performing a very funny show. We are celebrating Cultural and Identity day because last Sunday it was harmony day. The reason we celebrate harmony day is to acknowledge all the different cultures that live in Australia. We had a really fun day!
The 5/6's have been working on naming a tunnel boring machine to boar out the north east link tunnel project and our great school was chosen to name one of the boring machines and one of our tasks was to create an miniature boring machine. Everybody had fun and we wonder what the name will be!
For the past 2 weeks we've been learning about "tricks" in math. The tricks have certain steps to be performed for example, double your number, add 10 to your number, etc. The tricks are meant to make people think you can read minds, but really it's just maths.
