Welcome to Templestowe Heights Primary's online learning portal. This is where students, parents, carers and THPS staff can access virtual classrooms, resources, information but more importantly where we can all connect: students, education support staff and teachers.
Our position on remote/online learning (and supported by the Department of Education) is that we need to be mindful of the diverse circumstances of a family’s home-life. In these unprecedented times many families are under stress or experiencing hardship all the while trying to balance the complexities of managing stage 4 restrictions. We are committed to supporting students (and families) with learning opportunities and content that can be accessed at an appropriate time for the household (whatever that may look like). Our primarily synchronous approach (teaching & learning that takes place at the same time) will be guided by a set of principles that remote/online learning will look like at Templestowe Heights Primary:
three daily online lessons are where new learning will occur
offline learning activities must be self-contained and manageable and should not rely too heavily on parents as educators
parents/carers may not be available at all times during the school day to support learning from home – many will have work, caring or other responsibilities
some students may have no or limited access to devices or the internet at home
students with additional learning needs and students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) may need more support
The most important aspect during this self-isolation period is the need to stay connected. We will be using the video conferencing platform Webex Meetings. This will enable us to stay connected, with information on how to register for free and use this platform found in the Information tab at the top.
Instructions
Simply click on the 'Class' drop down tab at the top of this page and select the Year level that you or your child is a member of. This will then take you to a page where you will find your weekly online learning tasks that have been created.

Over the past eight weeks everyone has worked incredibly hard: teachers to deliver high quality learning tasks, students for giving their best efforts to engage in learning tasks and parents & carers for providing unconditional love and support to help their children succeed. A lot of work "behind the scenes" went in to what families saw as the finished product. Supporting one another through daily check-ins was equally important as in order for our students to flourish, the THPS staff also needed to support one another. No two households were the same and we understood that everyone was doing the best they could.
We are incredibly proud of what we delivered during these unprecedented times. What we faced was challenging, but it was exciting to be the architects of building something that had never been tried before. The original aim when we first commenced was simply reconnecting with one another. After a while we switched our focus to increasing engagement and participation, modifying and tweaking along the way. Below is a snapshot celebrating this period of time when Templestowe Heights Primary provided online/remote learning to its entire community of 440 learners.
Each day all staff and students will be able to stay connected via Webex Meetings. Webex Meetings codes can be found through your child's password-protected Google Classroom via the Classes tab at the top of the page or below through the Staff Online Community.
