MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Reflecting on Term 3
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of what has possibly been one of the biggest two months in Sherbourne Primary School’s long history!
Term 3 has been filled with learning, community, creativity, and achievement — and I couldn’t be prouder of our students and staff.
The Wizard of Oz Production was a true highlight of the term. Across three incredible performances, our students absolutely shone — showcasing their growth, confidence, and talent on stage. We were genuinely blown away by what they achieved. A huge thank you to Bianca Fenn School of Music (BFSM) for their outstanding partnership and commitment to our school. The guidance, creativity, and care they brought to our performing arts program have been exceptional. Thank you also to all of the staff, parents, and volunteers who helped make the production such a success — it was a true community effort.
In August, our Darwin Trip provided an unforgettable experience for our senior students. It was one of the most meaningful professional experiences I’ve had the privilege to be part of. The students were engaged, respectful, and curious — learning deeply about Australia’s history, environment, and culture. A moment that will stay with me forever came from one of our students who said, “I’ll never look at the bush the same way again,” after learning from an Indigenous guide about how people have lived from and cared for the land for thousands of years.
We also celebrated our Writers’ Festival, a wonderful showcase of student creativity and effort. Congratulations to Samantha Butters, recipient of the Ben Guice Award, and to all the students who were recognised for their writing achievements. Your dedication and imagination continue to impress.
The term wrapped up with our annual Footy Day, which once again brought colour, energy, and a real sense of community spirit to the school. It was fantastic to see everyone dressed in their team colours and getting involved. A special mention to Indy School, Paul Levinson-Murray, and his students for joining us — it’s always wonderful to share these experiences and strengthen our community connections. We’re thrilled that Indy will be supporting our Grade 3–4 Billy Cart Unit in Term 4!
And finally, we were proud to support Bryhill Preschool as they prepared their new temporary space here at Sherbourne, ready to open in Term 4. This partnership represents an exciting chapter for both of our communities, and we look forward to seeing it come to life.
Welcome to Term 4
What an amazing start we’ve had to Term 4! Students have returned settled, positive, and ready to learn. The calm and focused start to the term is a real credit to our staff and families, and a reflection of the strong foundation built through our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Respectful Relationships programs.
Our students continue to demonstrate care, empathy, and respect for one another; values that are becoming deeply embedded in the fabric of our school. The Values Detectives and Shout-Outs continue to be an important part of recognising and celebrating these positive behaviours, and it’s great to see the enthusiasm they bring to this role.
We have an exciting term ahead, full of opportunities for learning, connection, and celebration. Thank you to our wonderful staff, families, and community for your continued support. Sherbourne Primary is truly thriving because of the people who make it what it is.
Please don’t forget to read through your Year-Level Term Newsletters. Our teachers have been working hard to prepare and share the teaching and learning programs happening in classrooms. Just as importantly, please add the key Term 4 dates to your calendars. You’ll find these below, and they’re also included in your cohort newsletters with specific details for each year level.
We’re really looking forward to celebrating what has been an amazing year for Sherbourne Primary School — and my first full year as Principal.
Thank you for your ongoing support and contribution to our wonderful school community.

What a fantastic start to our Term 4 PE program with Bike Ed!
Students demonstrated Curiosity and Respect as they learned new safety skills and practical tips for checking their bikes, chains, and tyres before heading out for a ride. We’re so fortunate to have these wonderful opportunities at SPS!
SPS ACHIEVEMENTS
Last term, Grade 6 student Sam Butters submitted an art piece to the Banyule Youth Fest competition.
Although her artwork wasn’t selected this time, Sam received a gift pack from Jets Studios and Banyule Council in recognition of her entry. We are so proud of Sam for putting herself out there and making meaningful Connections with our wider community.
Well done, Sam!
