MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
What a start we've had to Term 3!
A real highlight for me has been the review and establishment of our new school values — Curiosity, Growth, Connect, and Respect (CGCR). What an incredible delivery from our students during the values launch, and that catchy song “CGCR, CGCR!” is still stuck in my head! These values will help shape our culture and ensure we continue to put students first in everything we do.
At Sherbourne Primary School, it’s important that our community understands the why behind what we do. We’re committed to ensuring all students have the best opportunity to thrive — both in their learning and in their wellbeing.
There’s already been so much to celebrate this term:
Our highly successful Trivia Night, which raised over $8000 for the Darwin trip!
100 Days of Prep — a beautiful milestone for our newest learners.
Our Intra School Athletics Carnival, a true showcase of community spirit and student engagement.
We’re now counting down to our Darwin experience from August 9th to 16th — an exciting adventure for our students. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time, energy, or donations to help make this trip possible. Your support helped us reach our fundraising target, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Among all of this, high-quality teaching and learning remains front and centre. Staff are delivering engaging, evidence-based instruction every day — all while supporting our rich Clubs Program and broader student interests.
We can’t wait to bring back the insights, memories, and learnings from Darwin to continue enhancing our work at Sherbourne.
Warm regards,
Brett Hayes
Principal
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
What an absolutely fantastic turnout we had for our Intraschool Athletics Carnival, held on Wednesday, 6th August 2025! The energy, spirit, and participation from our students made for a truly memorable day on the Sherbourne calendar.
We are incredibly proud to share that every student participated, exactly the outcome we were hoping for. From the field events to the final relay, our students gave their best effort, supported one another, and demonstrated the true meaning of being a good sport. It was wonderful to see students cheering each other on, celebrating successes, and simply enjoying the thrill of competition.
A massive thank you goes out to all of our special helpers on the day. These events simply couldn’t happen without the tireless support of our staff, parents, and volunteers who helped with set-up, timing, supervision, and encouragement at every event station.
A very special mention goes to Don Haslam, whose expertise and preparation in training students was instrumental in the smooth running of the carnival. Don’s passion for athletics and dedication to our students ensured that everyone maximised the opportunity to do their best!
The Athletics Carnival was more than just a day of physical activity, it was an opportunity for our students to challenge themselves, connect with others, and build confidence. Events included long jump, high jump, shot put and the relay, and all students had the chance to shine in their own way.
Thank you again to our Sherbourne community for making the day such a success. Whether you were helping at an event, cheering from the sidelines, or supporting your child to participate, your involvement means the world to us.
We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

SPS VALUES DAY
C, G, C, R. C, G, C, R. If you’ve heard that catchy chant echoing through the corridors, then you’ll know something big has happened at Sherbourne Primary School!
This term we proudly launched our new school values with a whole-school Values Day celebration, and what a day it was.
Our new values :
Curiosity
Growth
Connect
Respect
This reflects who we are and who we want to be, both as learners and as people in our community.
The day was filled with lots of fun — all centred around understanding and living our values. It was incredible to see students embracing each value in their own way. A special shout out to our grandparents and special friends that made the time to come out and share our special occasion.
🔍 Curiosity in the way they asked questions and explored ideas
🌱 Growth through persistence and giving new things a go
🤝 Connect in how they worked together, supported each other, and included everyone
🫶 Respect shown in their behaviour, words, and the care they gave their learning and peers
One of the most unforgettable moments was the debut of the CGCR chant and song, performed with pride and enthusiasm by our students. It’s still stuck in our heads — and that’s exactly how we want it!
Values Day was more than a celebration — it was a statement of what we stand for. These four words are now woven into the fabric of Sherbourne Primary School and will guide everything we do moving forward — in learning, in play, and in community.
Thank you to our staff, students and families for making Values Day such a memorable success. Together, we’re building something special at Sherbourne.
Let’s keep living Curiosity, Growth, Connect, Respect — every day!

ISS UPDATE
It’s been fantastic to have inter-school sport back in full swing for Term 3 at Sherbourne Primary School! There’s been a real buzz on Friday mornings as our students head out to compete, connect, and represent our school with pride.
This term, our students are competing in rounders, t-ball, basketball, and volleyball and what a terrific job they are doing. Every student in Years 5 and 6 is involved and giving their all, and it’s been inspiring to see the enthusiasm, sportsmanship and growth from every team.
A special shout-out to our volleyball team, who are currently undefeated and playing with fantastic energy and teamwork each week. Their effort and determination have been outstanding, and we’re excited to see how the season progresses. Nat Stock the Volleyball coach is doing a great job supporting the team!
Whether it’s the strategy of rounders, the pace of basketball, the skills in t-ball or the teamwork in volleyball, all of our students have embraced the opportunity and are showing what it means to represent Sherbourne with respect and pride.
Thank you to all staff, families, and supporters who make these opportunities possible. Sport plays such an important role in building confidence, friendships and resilience — and we’re so glad to see our students thriving through it.
Go Sherbourne!
