CPIE training has been developed from the foundational CUST training to provide educators with a deeper understanding of cultural perspectives and to empower them to effectively integrate these insights into their schools. This comprehensive training is facilitated by our own KEW, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, generously sharing not only their personal journey but also the rich histories and experiences of their ancestors.
Throughout the training, participants engage in meaningful discussions on a variety of important topics, such as racism, historical contexts, relevant policies, the concept of white privilege and more. These conversations aim to foster awareness and encourage critical thinking, helping educators to recognize the impact of these issues within their school communities.
Colonization has created systemic issues that deeply impact Aboriginal people, leading to historical trauma, especially in education and social environments. Understanding this context is essential for recognizing the challenges faced by these communities. After this training, the aim is to empower schools to develop their own resources and knowledge, fostering perspectives that enrich their school environments.
By equipping educators with the tools to embrace cultural diversity and inclusion, CPIE training seeks to create a more equitable and supportive environment for all students. Through collaborative learning and open dialogue, we aspire to inspire educators to take proactive steps in promoting understanding and acceptance in their classrooms.
We invite everyone! We encourage all school staff, including educational support personnel teachers, and leadership to participate in this training. It's an opportunity to gain valuable insights that can enhance your school community.
The training day is typically organized and run by the KEC and KESOs, although this may vary based on availability. Donna Holloway usually leads the sessions, providing her expertise and guidance throughout the training.
CPIE Training is scheduled to arrive at 8:45 AM for a 9:00 AM start, and then concludes at 2:30 PM, with a half-hour break for lunch.
While we don't have any more trainings running this year, you can register your interest to have training run at your school in 2026 here > CPIE 2026 EOI
