SGHS Music Support Group
Music Support Group President : Soo Woon Chong
Parents are crucial to the success of the SGHS Co-Curricular Music Program.
SGHS warmly welcomes and encourages all parents to become actively involved in the joys of their child’s music education. We offer a large and excellent music program, and as a public school we need you to actively contribute to this. The Music Support Group (MSG) is an important parent organisation and vital part of the music program. Musicians need an audience. They need you to come and enjoy their wonderful performances. The greater the parent support at these performances, the more rewarding the experience is for our students. It is a practical and interesting way of positively contributing to the school and your daughter’s education as well as an opportunity to meet like-minded parents and the school community.
Key events include:
Music Showcase - held at the end of Term 2. This is the major showcase for all ensembles and music students.
Music Presentation and End of Year Concert - staff, students and parents celebrate the year in Music at the annual Music Awards Concert held at the end of Term 4.
Other fund-raising activities
A meeting is held each term and you are warmly encouraged to come.
Some of the practical ways our parents contribute to the SGHS Music Program:
- Help with Door/Ticketing at major events
- Running light refreshments at events
- Provision of food/drinks for events
- Assisting with planning and promotion for fundraising events and concerts
- Donations to raffles/fundraisers
- Financial donations and bequests
- Instrument donations
- Attending concerts
