Student Comperes

Eligibility and selection

The Pulse Alive team are seeking students confident in public speaking to act as comperes for Pulse Alive 2024.

Nominations are open to students in Year 5 to Year 12 in 2023 who will be enrolled at a NSW public school.

Students will be mentored during the process by a professional MC and supported through their involvement in the event.

Application is via video audition.

Please note, this category is only open to individual performers. Students selected as comperes will not be able to participate in the event in an additional category.

Successful students will require the endorsement of their school principal to participate. Students are encouraged to discuss their nomination with a teacher at their school prior to submission

Students participating in this category will be supervised by members of the Pulse Alive team. Schools will not be expected to provide a teacher for duty of care of these students.

Hello and welcome to Ken Rosewall Arena for Pulse Alive 2024!


I’m {INSERT NAME} from {INSERT SCHOOL NAME} and it is so {exciting, thrilling, energizing, or your own} to be here with over 2000 students from NSW public schools showcasing an incredible array of talent.


Pulse Alive 2024 celebrates Australian music, is all about celebrating the plethora of art created by Australian talent. So, every song you hear tonight is 100% Australian. Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!


A big arena like this calls for a big sound and joining us in the stands we have the {massive, beautiful, thundering, or your own} 1000-voice Pulse Alive massed choir. And, accompanying our entire show we have the {incredible, amazing, wonderful, or your own} Pulse Alive Showband.


But for now, please welcome to the stage Elton John with his own special rendition of the Wiggles classic 'Hot Potato'.

Commitment

Students selected as student comperes will be expected to be available for all of the above rehearsal and performance dates.  

Costume

The performance clothes for the comperes will be as follows:

Resource fee

There will be a resource fee of $150 per student (GST inclusive). 

The resource fee assists with the costs involved in the conductors, choreographers and tutors working with the students, supports a number of music copyright costs and includes a Pulse Alive t-shirt, which will be worn by all performers as their costume during the event.

Student Comperes will be required to pay the resource fee through The Arts Unit student payment portal on acceptance into the show.
