Stage 3 has created a program to help students enjoy a successful period of online learning and that endeavours to maintain strong ties between the student, their cohort and teachers.
During Term 4, Stage 3 (mainstream) will be utilising the programs developed specifically for remote learning by the Department of Education. They can be accessed here: https://sites.google.com/education.nsw.gov.au/guided-learning-packages The packages have been designed to be matched to the Stage 3 curriculum, be engaging and include videos with explicit instructions.
In addition, students will need to have the following apps installed on their device, or accessible on their computer: Matific (or Mathletics for OC), Prodigy, Kahoot!, Smiling Mind, Reading Eggs, Google Classroom, Seesaw, Google Docs, Google Slides, Scratch, STILE, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
Matific (or Mathletics for OC), Prodigy, Writing Legends and Reading Eggs all require logins which have been given to students.
It is important that students post their work for their teacher to view at the completion of each session throughout the day as teachers are monitoring their learning progress. It is expected that work is completed well and not rushed.
Mainstream Daily Routine (8:50am - 2:50pm)
8:50am Check Google Classroom for announcements or messages.
Complete Daily Attendance question on Google Classroom.
Read through Daily Timetable https://sites.google.com/education.nsw.gov.au/guided-learning-packages
Each class will have a daily Zoom session at 9am. Additional Zoom sessions may be offered throughout the day. A message will be posted on Google Classroom informing students of these.
A photo of each session's activity needs to be uploaded to Seesaw ie at 11am, 1pm and 2pm for the teacher to check
All tasks have been designed to be able to be completed independent of help from parents.
OC Daily Routine (8:50am - 2:50pm)

Each class will have a daily Zoom session at 9am until approximately 10am, unless their teacher is absent. More Zoom sessions may be offered throughout the day. A message will be posted on Google Classroom informing students of these.
English tasks will need to be submitted by the end of the morning session. Maths tasks (Matific or Mathletics, Problemo, Prodigy) will need to be completed online in the middle session. Teachers will be checking this task.
In the afternoon session, students may choose to complete either a sports, STEM, art, craft, board game or music activity (or a combination of these). A photo of their afternoon activity needs to be uploaded to Seesaw by 3pm each day. The afternoon session is designed to be away from screens with a focus on student well-being.
All tasks have been designed to be able to be completed independent of help from parents.
Students are encouraged to visit the Stage 3 website regularly. The purpose of the site is to help students have a place to gather and be kept informed of Stage 3 initiatives, including additional learning opportunities in the Intellectual Curiosity Lounge.

Online Safety
Keeping students safe in the online learning environment is a key priority for us. We know that most student devices and home networks do not have the same high level of monitoring and filtering that we have at school. Please check the internet security settings in place on your network to ensure your child has a safe and positive online learning experience. Please see the eSafety Commisioner’s website for more information and tips on cyber safety https://www.esafety.gov.au/
Students are welcome to contact their teacher via the Google Classroom application. We encourage students to do this sooner rather than later. We strongly recommend that students are not using other platforms (social media, SMS etc) to contact each other during the day. They are welcome to communicate with each other on Google Classroom and Seesaw in the public forum. We will also be encouraging conversation via Zoom and will utilise Zoom rooms.
Online gaming during the school day impacts a student's ability to engage with remote learning lessons and will have a significant impact when they return to the classroom in terms of settling and being able to concentrate.
There are e-seminars for parents on online gaming and the link to mental health :

Students can find information about online safety on our Stage 3 website:

In October, Stage 3 will be participating in the CyberMarvel Department of Education initiative, which will focus on cyber safety. We have plans in place to ensure that our year 6 students have a successful and smooth transition to high school and to celebrate the end of their primary years of schooling.
