In Term 3 and 4, students in both Year 7 and Year 9 are studying units of Shakespeare in English, looking at the works of famous English playwright and poet, William Shakespeare. Students have studied excerpts and adaptations of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, and ‘Macbeth’.
To support their studies and enhance their understanding, students attended an incursion of Bell Shakespeare’s performance ‘Macbeth: The Rehearsal’, where they watched The Players play and replay with famous scenes and soliloquies from Macbeth. Students witnessed the play’s trajectory blur with the actors’ own journeys, discovering key motivations, themes, language techniques and plot devices. This was a show that celebrates theatre-making, storytelling and the power of the imagination, within an engaging contemporary narrative.
We look forward to seeing how this incursion inspires Year 7 students in the Shakespeare Showcase in Term 4!
