Introducing the 2022 - 2023 KHS Leadership Team

School Captain

Introducing our 2022-2023 School Captain, Lilly Kassira. As Captain, Lilly will be an upstanding representative of Kogarah High School. She will be working closely with the Student Leadership Coordinator, Prefects and SRC to organise school and fundraising events to create unity within the school community. Lilly has been an active member of the SRC and Youth Ambassador program promoting social change within the school, has helped to organise fundraising events and has created school social media content. One aspect of KHS that Lilly loves are all the different opportunities available for students of all interests and diverse talents. As School Captain, Lilly aims to change the perception that only leaders have the ability to make a difference and show that everyone has a say if they want to make their opinions heard.

Vice-Captains

Introducing our 2022-2023 School Vice-Captain, Ranya Mousselamani. As Vice-Captain, Ranya will be supporting Lilly in her role as School Captain as well as being an active representative of Kogarah High School who upholds the school’s values. She will be working closely with the Student Leadership Coordinator, Prefects and SRC to organise school and fundraising events to bring the school community together and raise awareness of important issues. She will also be actively promoting school calendar events and will actively be a positive role-model. Ranya has been a member of the SRC since Year 8, where she supported many school initiatives and was a voice and advocate for her peers. She is also a Youth Ambassador and has worked to promote inclusivity within Kogarah High School. One thing Ranya loves about KHS is that there are many facilities available to students to use and be engaged in such as the Library, Barber Shop and Hairdressing. As Vice-Captain, Ranya aims to create and foster more interest and engagement in events within the school, in the hope of bringing the school community closer together.

Introducing our 2022-2023 School Vice-Captain, Joshua Axen. As Vice-Captain, Joshua will be supporting Lilly in her role as School Captain as well as being an active representative of Kogarah High School who upholds the school’s values. He will be working closely with the Student Leadership Coordinator, Prefects and SRC to organise school and fundraising events to bring the school community together and raise awareness of important issues. He will also be actively promoting school calendar events and looks forward to being a positive role model to his peers.. Joshua has been a member of the SRC and Youth Ambassador and has engaged in running Harmony Day Poster Competitions and promoting social justice within school. One thing Joshua loves about KHS is the cultural diversity KHS offers, where he can gain valuable insight and appreciation of his peers’ culture. As Vice-Captain, Joshua aims to reinforce respect and inclusivity, actively promoting anti-racism.


Creative and Performing Arts Prefects

Introducing our 2022-2023 Creative and Performing Arts Prefect, Mariam Fadel. As CAPA Prefect, Mariam will promote and raise the profile of school wide events in the areas of Visual Arts, Drama and Music. She will work closely with the CAPA faculty to organise school calendar events such as KHS Talent Quest. She will also work closely with the Student Leadership Coordinator, School Captain, Vice Captains and SRC to run school wide events to bring the school community together. Mariam has been an active member of the SRC and Youth Ambassador program working collaboratively to eradicate racism at KHS and mentor younger students through the ‘Walk a Mile’ in your shoes program. One thing Mariam loves about KHS is the positive environment where everyone can feel at ease and welcomed. As CAPA Prefect, Mariam aims to help promote the inclusivity of KHS through further events and campaigns, in order to support important causes, while raising awareness.

Introducing our 2022-2023 Creative and Performing Arts Prefect, Abdul Syed. As CAPA Prefect, Abdul will promote and raise the profile of school wide events in the areas of Visual Arts, Drama and Music. He will work closely with the CAPA faculty to organise school calendar events such as KHS Talent Quest. He will also work closely with the Student Leadership Coordinator, School Captain, Vice Captains and SRC to run school wide events to bring the school community together. Abdul is a member of the SRC who has supported and promoted the implementation of the school recycling program. One thing Abdul loves about KHS is the rich and diverse multilingual groups within our school. As CAPA Prefect, Abdul aims to promote inclusivity and the school values – Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Reflection.


Sport Prefect

Introducing our 2022-2023 Sports Prefect, Sherene Mousselamani. As Sports Prefect, Sherene will be promoting all aspects of school sports and sporting opportunities. In this role, she will be working closely with PDHPE to assist with planning teacher v student competitions and promoting school carnivals. She will also work closely with the Student Leadership Coordinator, Student Leadership Team and SRC to organise and promote fundraising events in order to bring the school community together. Sherene has been a member of the SRC and Youth Ambassador working to eliminate racism in school. She has also represented KHS at multiple sporting carnivals at regional level. One thing Sherene loves about KHS is the multicultural experiences and connections shared by the student body.. As Sports Prefect, Sherene aims to encourage more cultural events to occur at KHS and improve student participation in all events.

Community Service Prefect

Introducing our 2022-2023 Community Service Prefect, Jose Hayek Saballo. As Community Prefect, Jose will actively highlight school and community events and provide opportunities for students to connect with the community. He will also be actively involved representing the values that underpin the KHS ethos. In this role, Jose will be working closely with the Student Leadership Coordinator, Student Leadership Team and SRC to organise fundraisers and promote charity events that educate students and improve awareness. Jose is a member of the SRC who has actively promoted many fundraising and charity events, educating students on refugees and cancer research. One thing Jose loves about KHS is that there are always new learning opportunities on offer for students to engage in. As Community Service Prefect, he will look at raising greater awareness about sustainability and changing student perceptions and attitudes, in order to encourage the reduction of waste around the school. He will be working on finding ways to encourage students to better utilise the recycling system within the school.

Cultural Relations Prefects

Introducing our 2022-2023 Cultural Relations Prefect, Saket Patki. As Cultural Relations Prefect, Saket will promote harmony within the diversity of the school community. In this role, Saket will be working closely with the Student Leadership Coordinator, Student Leadership Team and SRC to organise fundraisers and promote inclusivity through NSW multicultural activities and significant cultural celebrations. One thing Saket loves about KHS is that there is always a broad diversity of ideas and opportunities for students to learn from, grow and develop.. As Cultural Relations Prefect, he will endeavour to improve how events are organised So that we can strengthen community ties and promote a culture of openness and a diversity of views.

Introducing our 2022-2023 Cultural Relations Prefect, Mohamad Ziz. As Cultural Relations Prefect, Mohamad will promote harmony within the diversity of the school community. In this role, Mohamad will be working closely with the Student Leadership Coordinator, Student Leadership Team and SRC to organise fundraisers and promote inclusivity through NSW multicultural activities and significant cultural celebrations. Mohamad is a member of the SRC who has supported many fundraising events and encouraged his peers to participate and donate to the World’s Greatest Shave. One thing Mohamad loves about KHS is how frequently teachers go out of their way to assist their students. As Cultural Relations Prefect, he will promote extracurricular activities within the school.



Support Unit

Introducing our 2022-2023 Support Prefect, Yonghao Zhong. As Support Prefect, Yonghao will promote inclusivity and community connection. He will be working closely with the Support Unit Faculty, Student Leadership Coordinator, Student Leadership Team and SRC to organise fundraisers to bring the school community together. One thing Yonghao loves about KHS is being part of the Coffee Monkey and being able to bring joy to the teachers and school community. As a Support Prefect, he will be a strong representative and advocate for the Support Unit students.

Introducing our 2022-2023 Support Prefect, Alaa Zib. As Support Prefect, Alaa will promote inclusivity and community connection. She will be working closely with the Support Unit Faculty, Student Leadership Coordinator, Student Leadership Team and SRC to organise fundraisers to bring the school community together. One thing Alaa loves about KHS is coming to school and being able to see her friends and teachers. As a Support Prefect, she will be a strong representative and advocate for the Support Unit Students.
